In anticipation of the great Christian holiday "Assumption of the Holy Virgin Mary" (August 28), Berovo becomes the epicenter of cultural celebration every year during the last weekend of August, bringing together all who enjoy the rhythm of ethno music at one of the largest open-air festivals in North Macedonia and beyond - the Ethno Square Festival.

The Ethno Square Festival is a living museum of the most beautiful, primordial, priceless folkloric wealth, nurtured by our musical ambassadors who are harbingers of the storm through which, in an instant snapshot of an endless centuries-old process of rebirth, the Macedonian identity is reflected.

Music, as the universal language of the festival, is performed by our best ethno groups and cultural ensembles who are also the greatest Macedonian ambassadors of Macedonian tradition worldwide.

The festival also presents ethno sounds of Balkan music, highlighting what is characteristic of the Balkans and the traditions nurtured by our neighbors.

The true magic of the event is provided by the international traditional products fair "Maleshevo in Your Palm" held as part of the festival. The colorful array and wealth of products at numerous stands gives a special spirit to the entire square.

As part of the ETHNO SQUARE FESTIVAL, the children's song festival "Maleshevo Bell" is also held, which holds a significant place in Berovo's cultural life and has produced many musical talents.
